Newport Grand Could Net More Revenue

A proposal in the Rhode Island House version of the fiscal 2014 budget would give the local casino $1 million more per year for two years.

A late addition to the proposed fiscal 2014 budget by the Rhode Island House would provide Newport Grand with $1 million per year in additional revenue.

The House, which is scheduled to reconvene Wednesday afternoon to continue deliberations on the spending plan, added the Newport Grand proposal on Tuesday, Boston.com reported.

Quoting the Associated Press, the website noted that the bill would reduce the state's share of gambling revenue from the Newport location for two years.
