Newport's Chowder, Oyster Festival Draw Crowds

Thousands indulged on Newport's seafood offerings this weekend at the city's Chowder and Oyster festivals.

Newport's inaugural Oyster Festival drew thousands of patrons who readily devoured thousands of coveted local molluscs.

From 11 a.m. til 6 p.m. on June 1, the Newport Yachting Center hosted the Oyster Festival alongside the 32nd annual Chowder Festival, widening the seafood event's appeal.

The Oyster Festival featured everything from lobster rolls to fried clams and, of course, oysters, all from the Matunuck Oyster Bar.
