People’s Credit Union CEO Named to Lead State Association

The Credit Union Association of Rhode Island (CUARI) has elected President and CEO Ellen Ford as Chairman to the CUARI Board of Directors. 

Ford, a resident of Middletown, was re-elected to serve on the Board of Directors for a three-year term by the association's membership at their annual Meeting held May 11, 2011 at the Metacomet Country Club in East Providence, according to a prepared statement from People’s Credit Union.

The Credit Union Association of Rhode Island is an legislative and public policy advocacy industry group. The Board of Directors, made up of 11 credit union executives, sets policy for the Association and directs the professional staff, according to a prepared statement from People's.

Ford has been with People’s Credit Union since 1982 and has served the company in a variety of positions, according to a prepared statement from People’s Credit Union.  Ford has been in her current position as President & CEO for the past nine years. She holds a degree in business administration from the University of Rhode Island and resides in Middletown with her family.

“This Association is so important to the credit unions in Rhode Island and plays a crucial role in promoting and maintaining the credit union difference," Ford said in the prepared statement. "I’m honored to be part of the board and I’m happy to offer any expertise I can."

People’s Credit Union serves members through six locations in Bristol, Middletown, Newport, North Kingstown, Portsmouth and Wakefield.
