Islander Wrestling Scores Do Not Reflect Their Winning Spirit

Islander Wrestling display great on mat competition at recent meet against East Providence.

E. Providence 54 Middletown 18

Middletown suffered yet other dual meet loss.  The board showed that East Providence beat MHS as a team 54-18.

But those numbers don't tell the true story.  Fans for the Islanders were treated to fantastic on mat competition as they edged East Providence in head to head competition 18-12 .

Huge wins coming from 126 Joe Rutledge , 132 Jaxon Thibeault , 145 Isaiah Robinson ,  and 170 Preston Ferriera.

So what's the problem? You might ask.  It shear numbers explained wrestling parents in the stands.  The scoreboard reflects losses due to forfiets with no student from MHS to wrestle in particular weight classes.  Sportsmanship, spirit and gutwrenching great-to-watch wrestling is what audiences are  in for regardless of what the team numbers show.

Islander Wrestling hits the mat again away tomorrow against Chariho but at HOME against Mt. Hope on Thursday, February 7th at Gaudet. It will be a jam packed evening as the squad celebrates it's Senior Night and will be previewed by the Middletown Youth Wrestling Program at 5:30pm.

Come on out and support the team!
