Lady Islander Basketball is Bound for Division III Finals

Monday night, the Middletown High School Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated Davies 43-34 in the semifinals of the RIIL Division III playoffs.  With the victory, Middletown will play Juanita Sanchez in the finals at 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning at the University of Rhode Island Ryan Center. 

This will be the third consecutive time that the Middletown Girls Basketball Team will compete in the championship game.  During the season, Middletown and Juanita Sanchez split with Middletown winning at home 38-36 and then losing at Juanita Sanchez  53-47.
 
Last night, Middletown jumped out to a 20-11 lead only to see it cut to 20-15 at halftime.  Davies , continued their hot streak while Middletown went ice cold and Davies took the lead 26-20 before Middletown staged a comeback and went on a 23-8 run to win 43-34. 

Clutch foul shooting and some key steals on defense for easy layups help fuel the
comeback and send the Lady Islanders to the Ryan Center and the championship
game.

The championship Press Conference is scheduled for Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 10:30am at the Ryan Center.

Scoring:
Middletown: Chelsea Dowler led all scorers with 15 points, Quanisha Hilson scored 8 points, Lauren Sullivan and Liza Wauters scored 5 points each, Michaela Conley and Alisa Benson scored 3 points each, and Zoe Simanski and Zoe Mazzulli each scored 2 points  for the Islanders.
