Middletown Youth Wrestling Hits The Mat

Middletown Youth Wrestling receive medals both home and away.

January 6, 2013:

Middletown Youth Wrestling Club sent a team of 22 boys to the Kari McCarthy
Memorial Tournament held at Kickemuit Middle School in Warren RI on Sunday
January 6, 2013.

Gold medal performances for first place were turned in by Matthew Dimen, Drystan McClain and Zachary Sherman.

Second place medals were awarded to Magnus Zettel, Shea Sargent, Julien Delacruz, and John Weiderman.

Third place medals went to Matthew McCormack, William Hermeling, Cameron McLeish, Andy Beese, Fisher Everin, Zachary Bidlack and Sean Riley.

Nicholas Nelson, Kai Zettel and Michael Sherman placed fourth in their classes.

Other members of the team entered in the tournament were:
Connor Carney, Evan Beese, Rhoan Nava, Machias Nava and DJ Fontaine.

January 13, 2013:

Middletown Youth Wrestling Club hosted almost two hundred entries during a Rhode Island Wrestling Association tournament at Gaudet Middle School on Sunday, January 13, 2013. Twenty of twenty nine MYWC athletes  placed in the top 4 to earn medals in their respective age and weight divisions.

Matthew Dimen, Drystan McClain and Zachary Sherman won gold medals for their first place performances. Each wrestler went undefeated on the day.

Magnus Zettel, Brandon LaChance, Nicholas Nelson, Fisher Everin and John Weiderman earned  silver medals for second place.

Third place bronze medals were awarded to Matthew McCormack, Julien DeLacruz, Caleb Florendo, Shea Sargent and Aiden Morgado.

Fourth place went to Andy Beese, CJ McLeish, William Hermeling and Kyle McGinley in the Bantam division. Connor Carney, Gage Robinson and Kai Zettel placed fourth in the Intermediate division and Dean Florendo placed fourth in the Novice division.

DJ Fontaine, Evan Beese, Sean Riley and Nathan Sibya placed fifth.

Garrett Roskelly, Rhoan Nava, Jacob Marnon and Macchias Nava placed sixth.

MYWC wrestles again on Sunday January 20th with the majority of the team at a RIWA tournament at Moses Brown School in Providence RI and a travel team attending the Brute Northeast Nationals at UMass-Amherst.
