"Series Of Entertaining Events" Rocks The House

The Middletown High School Drama Club performs for full houses this weekend in a production of their own making.

The Middletown High School Drama Club presented, "A Series of Entertaining Events" to a full house this weekend delighting crowds and bringing them to their feet.  The imalgum of musical numbers, dramatic vignettes and comical shorts were engaging, toe-tapping and laugh out loud funny.  If you missed this one, well, I am sorry for you.

Stand out performances by Ella Miller, John Cunha, Eve Houghton, Dan Bertel and Clara Maurer left theatre-goers with a lasting impression that Broadway will neither wither nor die.  Their love of performing and impassioned stage presence warmed the heart of their adoring audience and left us wanting more.

Surprise vocal stand outs were the soothing tones of Gerald Baldesmo and Kheldhe Bourque whose duet made the heart grow fonder. Sage Salvo and Najla Camilo's dramatic duet brought the house to tears with their heartfelt expression of loss and adolescence.

Lily Moy never disappoints as one never knows when she's going to make her way to the stage, what she's going to say or better yet, what she's going to do.  From playing the exuberant "Bruiser" the dog in Legally Blonde to the thrilling the crowd with her rendition of I Dreamed A Dream, I sometimes think Lily is the reason many of us go to an MHS production.

Then there were the group numbers!  I am still singing and dancing to Chicago's Cellblock Tango, Legally Blonde's Omigod You Guys and the closing Seasons of Love from RENT.  The voices and choreaography filled the room  with everything show goers look for in a feel good production laughter, warmth and that great feeling you get when all you want to do is get up out of your chair and dance right along with them.

The cast and crew have much to be proud of.  I can't wait to see what comes up next.
