Hero Week Continues at the Middletown Fire Department

The children attending the M'Town Summer Vacation Program at Middletown Public Schools were treated to yet another walking field trip to celebrate "Hero Week".  The children were hosted by the Middletown Fire Department where they were given an extensive tour of the firehouse.

They learned that our fire department does so much more in addition to preventing and putting out fires.  Many of the children did not know that our firehouse provides water rescue, emergency medical service and on-land rescue.  They each took a turn on the hose to aim at a cone to get a hands-on feel for what it felt like to put out a fire.

They also learned the difference between the many tones and bells that ring in the station and what they stood for.  So much so, that after taking this group photo the emergency tone rang and the group waved to the crew as they headed out to their call.

Many thanks to firefighters Chris, Elvis and Nate for taking the time to make the kids feel at home.
