Annual Rain Barrel Sale

Middletown has teamed up with the Rhode Island Water Lady to help residents supplement their garden watering needs by harvesting rainwater.

These high quality, low-cost, recycled food barrels have been retrofitted as rain barrels. One inch of rain water can generate up to 620 gallons on a 1,000 square foot roof.

To order a rain barrel, log on to www.riwaterlady.com.The barrels may be picked up on April 6, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Department of Public Works garage, 19 Berkeley Ave, Middletown.

At 60 gallons, this rain barrel is one of the largest on the market. The heavy duty barrel stands 39 inches tall by 24 inches wide, weighs 20 lbs and will last for years. Each individual unit comes complete with threaded spigot (for easy hose attachment), overflow fittings, drain plug, screw-on cover, screen, and complete instructions. The rain barrels are available in three colors: green, gray and dark brown.

This event is open to all Rhode Island residents and $10 from every sale will be donated to Middletown’s PAYT program.
