Man Draws Gun During Road Rage Confrontation

We compile the odd, unusual and 'oh my gosh' police items from throughout the region.

Two men took their road-rage confrontation to a higher level when they stopped on a Route 24 off-ramp and one man drew a loaded gun and pointed it at the other. The second man fought back by driving his pickup into the gun-wielding man’s car, pinning the driver’s door closed. The 55-year-old with the gun climbed out the other side of the car and continued to point the gun. When a third man drove up to see what was going on, he was told to get out of there. Not surprisingly, he did. But the two combatants weren’t alone for long. The cops showed up and ended the confrontation without bloodshed.

Drag-racing biker runs into police cruiser
Three men in their twenties were arrested in the north end of Tiverton after all three were caught drag-racing down a residential street. A Tiverton officer was sitting at a radar post when a motorcyclist flew by at more than 70 miles per hour in a 25-mile-per-hour zone. The officer immediately pulled him over. A moment later, two more bikers came flying down the road. One tried to stop, skidded for a few hundred feet and slammed into the back of the cruiser. The rider was taken to the hospital with non-threatening injuries, and all three were charged.

A woman of her word
A 30-year-old Newport woman was arrested after she did exactly what she said she would – destroyed all her guy’s belongings. According to police, she left several messages on his phone saying she would destroy his stuff and light it on fire. When police showed up at the apartment, she had apparently done just that – destroyed his stuff.

‘This is what happens when you drink’
After allegedly drinking too much, forgetting to turn her lights on, violently striking a curb, blowing out her tire, getting pulled over and failing a field sobriety test, a 25-year-old North Kingstown woman was arrested for drunk driving. Her response? ‘This is what happens when you drink. You get arrested.”

Irish! Scotish! Let’s slug it out

Dog dragged behind pickup truck
South Kingstown officers chased down a report of a woman dragging a dog behind her pickup truck and found a visibly upset dog owner nursing the injured canine. It turns out her housemate had tied the dog to the rear bumper of the truck before mowing the lawn. The woman didn’t realize the dog was tied there and took off down the road. The dog was taken to a veterinary hospital and treated.
