Shoplifting Suspect Arrested After Foot Chase, Virility Products Recovered

The Middletown Police Department reported the following recent arrests.

Daniel Spearin, 34, of 7 Doyle St., Apt. #3, Newport, was arrested Thursday around 10:51 a.m. after allegedly attempting to steal male performance enhancing supplements from a local pharmacy and then fleeing from a officer on foot.

According to the arrest record, a police officer called to the pharmacy on East Main Road allegedly saw the shoplifting suspect running from the store as he arrived and then chased the suspect as he ran toward . The officer alleged that he ordered the suspect to stop several times and had to threaten to use his Taser before Spearin finally complied. The stolen items recovered from the scene included a box of Virmax DS, worth $19.99, and another bottle of Zyrexin, valued at $17.99.

Spearin was charged with misdemeanors of shoplifting and resisting arrest. Police also found that Spearin was wanted on an outstanding court warrant from the Sixth District Court in Providence for allegedly failing to appear for a court date on another misdemeanor charge.

DUI Arrest

Middletown police arrested Julie Blanks, 38, of 261 Rolling Hill Road, Portsmouth, on Friday around 1:51 a.m. in a misdemeanor first-offense charge of driving under the influence of alcohol. According to the arrest report, police stopped her car on West Main Road north of John Kesson Lane after observing it swerve into another travel lane. After allegedly detecting bloodshot eyes and the smell of alcohol, police conducted a field sobriety test before arresting her.
