This Weekend: Healing Co-Op Dances for a Cause, Drug Take-Back, Police Parade

A look at what's happening in Middletown this weekend, beginning today.

Let's get this weekend started with a look ahead at community events and happenings in and around Middletown:

  1. This morning's Storytime with Miss Lynn at 10:30 a.m. at the Barnes & Noble book store features the classic “Clifford the Big Red Dog 40th Anniversary Edition.”
  2. This Saturday night in Newport, put on your dancing shoes to help support Aquidneck Island's only free cancer support organization, the Healing Co-Op based in Middletown. 
  3. The Middletown Substance Abuse and Prevention Task Force and Middletown Police Department want drugs from your household that you, other people or pets no longer use. The Prescription Drug Drop-Off is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. No questions asked.
  4. The American Legion Annual Fundraiser Pasta Dinner happens Saturday night from 5-7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Middletown.
  5. On Sunday beginning at 11:50 a.m. in Middletown, the Aquidneck Island Police Parade will pay tribute to those officers who have fallen in the line of duty while protecting and serving our communities.
Bonus Round:

The Rockin' Rodeo Round-Up on Saturday night in Newport features live music, mechanical bull rides and more to benefit the Aquidneck Island Island National Police Parade.
