Thursday: Night of Comedy, Food & Wine Expo
A look at what's happening in and around Middletown today.
1. The Newport Lions Club will host a "Night of Comedy" tonight at 6 p.m. at the Atlantic Beach Club. All proceeds benefit the organization.
2. Today in high school sports: the varsity girls lacrosse team takes on Chariho, while the varsity boys lacrosse team goes up against Mt. Hope. Meanwhile the varsity fastpitch softball team takes on Portsmouth, while the freshman boys baseball team plays Barrington at home.
3. Tonight at 6 p.m., attend the , hosted by Ocean Cliff Resort and Hotel, Sardella's Restaurant, and the Marina Café & Pub. Tickets are $25 and proceeds raised at the event will be split evenly and donated to the music departments at Rogers High School, Middletown High School, and Portsmouth High School.

4. The International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport will host a talk by URI professor and Newport architecture expert Ron Onorato, Ph.D., tonight. Onorato will talk about the design inspiration for the Newport Casino. Start time is 6 p.m.
5. Should be sunny, with temps in the low 50s today, according to the National Weather Service.
