Today: Buddy Cianci, Coyotes, and the Chance to Be a Movie Extra

A look at Thursday in and around Middletown.

With so much going on, this is one of those Thursdays that makes it feel like the weekend has started early:

  1. Tonight, meet up with Buddy Cianci right here in Middletown. The former Providence mayor will be at Island Books to answer questions about his new memoir, which talks about his life, his prison term and more. He'll be signing copies. Click here for more information.
  2. Tonight at Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge, Dr. Numi Mitchell will speak about her research and findings so far from The Narragansett Bay Coyote Study and about the current issue of coyotes on Aquidneck Island.
  3. Want to stay in the loop on local casting calls for extras as the Wes Anderson production gets underway right here in Middletown? One of your best bets is to first register in advance on the LDI Casting website to receive notifications of local casting calls. LDI has provided casting services for most big productions that have taken place in Rhode Island and might just end up working this show too. At the very least, you'll get the scoop on all productions' casting calls happening throughout the area. Click here for LDI's website.
  4. Tonight! See the Magic Flute Live from Italy at the Jane Pickens in Newport. Seriously, how much do we love our local arthouse theater?
  5. Tonight from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., the East Bay MET School Parent Group invites the public to attend the 5th Annual Meet the MET Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser.
