Today: Congressman Cicilline to Join Chamber In Honoring Local Businesses

Here's a look at five things happening in and around Middletown today, beginning with a special Chamber of Commerce breakfast at the Officer's Club with Congressman David N. Cicilline.

The Newport County Chamber of Commerce will announce the winners of its 2011 Excellence In Business Awards over a special breakfast this morning from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Newport Officers' Club, Naval Station Newport, with special guest speaker U.S. Congressman David N. Cicilline.

The annual event recognizes local businesses and their role in the local economy and honors outstanding business achievement in Newport County, according to a Chamber media release.

  1. The Town Council meets tonight at 6 p.m. for more budget talks. See the agenda in the image gallery at upper right.
  2. The Committee for the Arts meets tonight at 5 p.m. with a lengthy to-do list as they get the 2011 Celebration of the Arts up and running for August.
  3. Tween Yoga begins today at the Gaudet Middle School. Pre-registration is required. 
  4. Zumba Latin dance classes are held at 6 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday night at the Middletown Senior Center and are open to all ages.
