Today: Free Starbucks, Library Storytime and Amazing Owls Start the Weekend

A look at what's happening in Middletown this weekend, beginning now!

Spring break ends on a very busy weekend that begins today, with Earth Day activities, Easter Sunday and a 5K road race all converging at once:

  1. Today is officially Earth Day and to celebrate, is giving away free coffee to customers who bring in their own travel mugs.
  2. The Middletown Public Library's special Earth Day Program today at 11 a.m. will feature a storytime and craft presented by author and illustrator Wendy Taylor. Taylor will read her new book, "The Flower." 
  3. The Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge presents "The Amazing World of Owls" today at 1 p.m., a free program promising an afternoon of weird science to include owl pellet dissection over the discussion of the owl's eating habits, ecology, skeletal anatomy and more.
  4. On Saturday, the third annual Police Parade 5K Road Race and Fun Run will be hosted by the Portsmouth Police Department's Unity Tour Team, as part the Aquidneck Island National Police Parade activities that take place over the next few weeks.
  5. A Rabies Clinic will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Public Works Department.
