Rhode Island Museum of Science and Art - Marble Roller Coaster

As part of Middletown Public Library's Teen Summer Reading Program, "Spark a Reaction," the library will host a presentation by the Rhode Island Museum of Science and Art (RIMOSA).  Participants ages 10 and up will explore the connection between potential and kinetic energy.  Using tubes, tape and other household materials, youth will engineer creative marble "roller coasters" and send their marbles on loop-the-loops, spirals and more in attempts to have them travel through over 6 feet of tubing and, at the end of their journey, drop gently into a cup.  Registration is required.  Audience size is limited to 20.  Call the library at 401-846-1573 to register or for more details.

*The "Spark a Reaction" teen summer library program is sponsored by the Office of Library and Information Services of Rhode Island, with funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Pawtucket Red Sox, Citizens Bank, and Pepsi.  Local support comes from Rhode Island Children's and Young Adult Librarians and the Friends of the Middletown Library.
