The Potter League for Animals will hold their 23nd Annual Heart & Sole Walk for the Animals on Sunday, June 3, at Glen Park in Portsmouth. The Heart & Sole Walk raises funds to care for homeless pets in need throughout the year. Check-in starts at 10 a.m. and the Walk begins at noon. People can participate with or without their dogs, walk in honor or memory of their cats or other favorite pet, or form a “pack” with friends or family members.
Morning festivities will include a smart and fit pet challenge course, obedience training demonstrations and Q&A, dog obstacle course, children’s scavenger hunt and face painting, feline “fur-tography” contest and pet contests. Pet care professionals will also be available to discuss acupuncture and massage therapy for pets, oral hygiene, veterinary care, pet nutrition, training, healthy pet treats, Canine Good Citizen certification and adoption information. Refreshments and lunch will be available.
Participants are encouraged to collect pledges and earn prizes at the same time. Those who raise $125 ($75 for kids) will receive a limited-edition Walk tee shirt and eco-friendly water bottle. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit the shelter animals.
The Walk is free to those who pre-register by June 1 and raise $50 in pledges. Children 8 years and under are free. There is a $20 entry fee for those who do not raise pledges or pre-register by June 1, or $25 the day of the event. For more information visit, www.PotterLeague.org. Participants can register online and create their own personalized fundraising page to collect pledges or download a registration form and sponsor sheet.
