The Middletown Rotary Club will host a coffee taste testing and sales event at the Custom House Coffee Shop on Aquidneck Ave on Sat, Dec 4th from 10 AM to 3 PM to benefit local charities. Buy fresh-roasted coffee at the regular retail price and nearly half of each sale will fund the many worthy causes supported by The Rotary.
One of these programs is the Citizens Scientist Program that brings world class science and math programs to the underserved population. The Citizens Scientist Program is comprised of local students and Aquidneck Island residents who have been helping the Aquidneck Island Watershed Council collect water samples from streams on the Island that feed into our local water supply. These samples are then taken to Salve Regina for testing. Currently there are 10 sites on the Island and the Council is hoping to expand this number to 15. Monies collected from this event will help to fund the supplies needed to conduct these tests.
