Middletown Households More Charitable Than Most

Middletown households gave a median contribution of $2,067, or 3.73 percent of their income to charity, according to 2008 tax returns.

Middletown is ranked as the 11th most charitable community in Rhode Island, according to analysis conducted by GoLocalProv.com

Communities, based on zip codes, were ranked by the amount of discretionary income that was donated to a charitable cause. The data was taken from the Chronicle for Philanthropy via 2008 tax returns, which is the most recent available year.

Households within 02842 gave a median contribution of $2,067, or 3.73 percent of their income to charity. 

Portsmouth ranked 29th and Newport ranked third.

As a RI resident, its hard to give when the government takes so much from us and gives so little on return.
