Miss RI to Intern at Fit2cook4Kids Summer Camps

Brains, talent & beauty, Miss America contestants are great role models.

Kelsey Fournier, the recently crowned Miss Rhode Island, is preparing for the Miss America 2013 pageant by working as the social media intern at Fit2Cook4Kids camps beginning July 9 and running through August 24.  Fournier will capture camp stories and write media blogs detailing what the kids are learning about staying fit, preparing healthy foods and polishing their social skills.

The Fit2Cook4Kids internship is an ideal medium for Kelsey to prepare for the Miss America Pageant held in January 2013 in Los Vegas.  Her platform is entitled, “Eat Bright, Feel Right: Creating a Healthier Generation.”   The Miss America Organization founded the platform concept, which requires each contestant to choose a relevant issue they care deeply about.

This is a perfect fit and we’re lucky that Kelsey chose childhood obesity as her Miss America platform. She is incredibly fit, having been the New England Patriots Cheerleader Line Captain for the past two years.  A talented dancer, Kelsey represented the United States on the 2008 United States Dance Team and placed in the top five at the World Modern Championship and Jazz Cup in Mikolajki, Poland.  She spent Christmas traveling to the Middle East to visit and perform for US troops in Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan and Qatar.  And she’s willing to share her dance moves with campers at Fit2cook4Kids.

Kelsey is a graduate of Saint Raphael Academy High School.  In June she graduated Cum Laude and as a Presidential Scholar from Rhode Island College with a BS in Community Health Education.  She intends to obtain a Masters in Public Health.

A few spots are still available for Fit2cook4Kids camp this summer.  More info can be found at www.foodandtruth.org
