Potter League's Heart and Sole Walk for Animals

The Potter League for Animals is holding their 24th annual Heart & Sole Walk for the Animals on Sunday, June 2, at Glen Park in Portsmouth


The Potter League for Animals is holding their 24th annual Heart & Sole Walk
for the Animals on Sunday, June 2, at Glen Park in Portsmouth.   The Heart & Sole Walk raises funds to care for homeless pets in need throughout the year. Participants are encouraged to collect pledges and earn great prizes at the same time. Those who raise $100 will receive a free lunch and limited-edition Walk Tee Shirt. ($50 for kids)  All proceeds from the event will directly benefit the shelter
animals.

The Heart & Sole Walk is a huge event for animal lovers. People can participate
with or without their dogs, walk in honor or memory of their cats or other
favorite pet, or form a “pack” with friends or family members.”  Employees
of businesses are encouraged to join together to participate. Registration is
available online at www.PotterLeague.org, by mail or in person at the Potter League. 

Teams from local schools, health clubs, small and large businesses are invited to form teams as an opportunity to build community and achieve special recognition for making a difference in the lives of homeless animals.

Check-in starts at 10:00 a.m. and the Walk begins at 12 noon.  Morning festivities
include a smart & fit pet challenge course, obedience training demonstrations,  a dog obstacle course, a children’s scavenger hunt and face painting, and the infamous pet contests.  Walkers can visit the Healthy Pet Marketplace where pet care professionals will be on hand to discuss acupuncture and massage therapy for pets,  veterinary care, pet nutrition, training, healthy pet treats, Canine Good Citizen certification and adoption information. Tables with be manned by the Potter League staff, volunteers, local veterinarians, specialists and sponsors.  Event sponsors include Hill’s Science Diet, Frontline, Heartgard, Pet Co Foundation, HomeAgain Microchip by Merck, People’s Credit Union, Moriarity’s Fence Company and The Landings.

Refreshments and lunch will be available at the park the day of the Walk. The Heart & Sole Walk for the Animals is free to those who pre-register by May 31 and raise $50 in pledges. Children 8 years and under are free. There is a $20 entry fee
for those who do not raise pledges or pre-register by May 31, $25 day of event.
