Monday: Potter League Annual Meeting and National Food Day Launch

A look at what's happening in and around Middletown today.

  1. The will be held at the shelter at 6 p.m. The meeting will look back at the past year’s accomplishments as well as what is to come over the next 12 months. Light refreshments will be served.
  2. Today is the first ever National Food Day, a nationwide effort to support policies that promote healthy, affordable food that is produced in a sustainable and humane way. In Rhode Island, residents are invited to the Statehouse at 10 a.m. to meet with the newly launched Rhode Island Food Policy Council and hear about their release of a comprehensive state food assessment.
  3. Head out to cheer on the Middletown High School boys' junior varsity and varsity soccer teams as they take on East Greenwich High School at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.
  4. It’s time to start thinking turkey! is taking orders for holiday turkeys today (and every Monday and Thursday) from 3 to 6 p.m. at the farm stand.
  5. at the Newport Public Library will feature candy and cupcake making with the flavors and frights of the Halloween season. Teens in grades 7 to 12 are welcome to attend this free event at 4 p.m.
