Karen (Lopes) Ripa, 47, of Middletown, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Newport Hospital surrounded by her family and friends.
Born in Providence, RI on February 9, 1967, she was the daughter of Henry and Mary (Botelho) Lopes.
Karen graduated from Middletown High School in 1985. She enjoyed taking care of animals, and was an avid camper who loved being outdoors and spending time with her family and friends and treasured dog, Buddy Her greatest joy was her granddaughter, Olivia.
Besides her parents she is survived by her three children, Ashley Ripa, Andrew Ripa and Allison Ripa and her beloved granddaughter Olivia Jimenez, as well as her brother Henry Lopes Jr., her sister Kathleen Lopes Moson, brother in law John Moson and her beloved nieces Ava and Sophie Moson. She was the granddaughter of the late Mary and Joseph Botelho and George and Emily Lopes.
Calling hours will be held on Friday May 2, 2014, from 4-8pm in the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway, Newport.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday May 3, 2014, at 8:00am from the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00am in Jesus Savior Church, Broadway, Newport, RI.
Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
