Pharmaceutical industry should take responsibility

The Middletown Police and Firefighters are providing a good service to the community by providing a secure lock box where outdated medications can be deposited. Thank you.

HOWEVER, I believe that this service is the responsibility of the pharmaceutical industry and that they should have initiated a national program decades ago. They certainly profit handsomely from the sale of their products and can well afford it.

Since they have not done this, it is up to our state legislators to pass laws requiring a comprehensive and free return system that would serve Rhode Island. It's the least the drug industry should be required to do to serve the customers that support their industry in such a  profitable way.
