Poll: What's the Best Holiday of the Year?

Let's hear it for Thanksgiving!

Nothing beats Thanksgiving. But that’s just me.

The food.

The football.

The tradition.

The desserts.

The family.

The Thursday leading into the long weekend.

Did I mention the desserts? Like the chocolate pecan pie?

For me, they’ve always combined to create the best holiday of the year.  But I know that’s not universal. Some are partial to Christmas. Others like the summer holidays.

For me, it’s always been Thanksgiving. What about you?

I like Memorial Day. Summer is just beginning, the weather is getting better, days are getting longer, and all you're really expected to do is maybe grill up some food in the back yard or go sit on a beach.

Let's try to maintain Thanksgiving as a holiday in its own right and NOT as a day to sleep before Black Friday, so that you can hit the stores at 10 pm or midnight to fight for Christmas bargains. Have you noticed all the permutations of the word 'Thanksgiving' morphing into marketing terms for giant holiday sales for everything from cars to toys?? Turkeython and Thanksapalooza - really? Maybe I'm just cranky since I have already had quite a bit of pecan pie this morning and no real nutrition yet!

Itoo like Memorial Day, Thanksgiving has become a pressure day....set a perfect table, get the right wines, dress up somewhat cook the bird, hope it turns out ok then get ready for the shopping.....all you do on Memorial day is cook a few burgers, pop a couple of brews and if one is available jump in the pool....nice and easy

No doubt my favorite is 4th of July. I love Thanksgiving and my family and I do whatever it takes from getting caught up in the Shopping Frenzy some enjoy. They can have all the hype of Black Friday. Besides, the "deals" will always be around. So, Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

My favorite holiday varies from year to year. Are we hosting or are we the guests? Honestly, the concept of the all American Thanksgiving SHOULD be the best. Why not honor the intent for all four days? Monday will be here all too soon.

Black Friday, because if you go to a Walmart you also get to watch the running of the bulls.

Thanksgiving hands down..No rushing around to buy anything but food, family gets together sits at the table has a meal together and just enjoy each other. Christmas is a big farce, no one understands what it is all about. It is not about buying every family member, friend and aquaintance a gift, spending money you don't have because you feel obligated to give something to someone who probably really doesn't need whatever it is you give them and then you get gifts you don't want either. Its a big joke.
