4 Middletown Men Charged With Arson

The following arrests were reported by the Middletown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Three Middletown men were charged with fourth degree arson, a felony, after they allegedly burned a woman’s chair in the middle of Marshall Lane. The victim said the men have damaged her property in the past when they cut through her lawn.

Donovan Jones, 21, of an unknown address in Middletown was charged with arson and willful trespass on Sept. 5. Hayward Johnson, 22, of 145 Rogers Lane, was charged arson and larceny under $1500 on Aug. 28. Taiwo Adebimpe, 20, of 43 Jean Street, was charged with arson and willful trespass on Aug. 28.

On Aug. 21 around 4:30 a.m., the three men allegedly entered Jam Construction, located at 1700 West Main Road, and stole diesel fuel. Johnson was seen on a video surveillance pumping the fuel while the two other men walked around the break room, said police.

About 20 minutes later, emergency crews were called to Marshall Lane for a report of a chair burning in the road. The owner of the chair said she saw and recognized the men.

Fire Marshall Robert McCall said it appeared diesel fuel was used in the fire based on the smell and the damage to the roadway.
