Body Found In Tiverton Marsh Was 25-Year-Old Fall River Man

Police are not releasing the identity of the man found on Easter Sunday until extended family members are notified.

According to Sgt. James Costa, they are still contacting members of his extended family.

The body was transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Providence.

Costa would not elaborate on any further details surrounding the case or how the body ended up in the marsh. “The investigation’s ongoing,” he said.

Members of Tiverton Police, the fire department and the Rhode Island State Police had been combing the area since Saturday night, when an abandoned Honda was found idling on the Seapowet Bridge. The Saturday search wrapped up around 8 p.m., according to police, after it got too dark and a fog rolled in.

The search party resumed on Sunday morning around 9 a.m. Around 2 p.m., a passerby noticed something floating in the water directly beneath the Seapowet Bridge.
