Speeding Leads to Arrest for Newport Man

James H. Walker, 22, of 5 Princeston St. Apt. A, Newport, was arrested on Friday, May 24 at 1 a.m. on a bench warrant issued from Second Division District Court. Middletown Police stopped Walker on West Main Road after an officer allegedly clocked him driving 43 mph in a posted 25 mph zone. A subsequent computer check revealed that Walker's license was suspected for failure to appear in court. He was arraigned in court later that day.

Homeless Man Charged with Shoplifting

George A. Collazo, 35, homeless, of Newport was arrested on Tuesday, May 28 at 4:45 p.m. and charged with misdemeanor shoplifting. Newport Police arrested Collazo on a warrant out of Middletown and he was transported to the Middletwon station.

NC Man, 37, Charged with Possession of Cocaine

John Joseph Lombardo, 37, 1215 Saturn Lane, Jacksonville, NC, was arrested on Monday, May 27 at 11:45 p.m. and charged with felony drug possession and a Sixth Division District Court bench warrant. Lombardo was in an alley near Big Dawgs when police arrived on scene for a noise complaint. Upon checking Lombardo's identification, police found that Lombardo was wanted on a 2001 charge for failure to appear in court. Lombardo was arraigned in court the following day.

Warwick Man Charged with Disorderly Conduct, Assault

Jon S. Pearson, 38, of 29 Harding Ave., Warwick, was arrested on Sunday, May 26 at 1:45 a.m. and charged with disorderly conduct, simple assault, and resisting legal or illegal arrest. Police arrested Pearson after he became aggressive when his friend was arrested on suspicion of DUI. Pearson was unruly and rude toward officers and allegedly attempted to start a fight. He was arraigned later that morning.

Local Man Charged with Assaulting 32-Year-Old Woman Who Wouldn't Have Sex with Him

A 22-year-old Middletown man, was arrested on Saturday, 25 at 2:45 a.m. and charged with simple assault after he allegedly assaulted a 32-year-old Newport woman who refused to have sex with him. According to police reports, the woman alleged he tricked her into going to his home and once they were there, attempted to force her to have sex with him both physically and by threatening to tell the police she was breaking things inside his home. 

Update:  This report has been modified following the expungement of these charges. The identity of the arrestee has thus been removed.

Newport Woman Charged With Disorderly Conduct

Maecille Jicole Miller, 28, of 143 Third St. Apt. 4F, Newport was arrested on Saturday, May 25 at 1:04 a.m. and charged with disorderly conduct following an altercation at a Middletown Bar. She was also issued a citation for marijuana possession.

Pawtucket Man Charged with Assault of 26-Year-Old Woman

R.J. Cheatom Hill, 40, of 175 Broad St Apt B25, Pawtucket, was arrested on Saturday, May 25 at 1:46 a.m. and charged with simple assault after he allegedly punched, kicked and spit on a 36-year-old Newport woman during a fight at a Middletown Bar. Hill denied injuring the woman. He was arraigned later that day.

Newport Man Charged with Disorderly Conduct

Matthew Stroker, 30, of 13 Beech Tree St., Newport, was arrested on Friday, May 24 at 11:58 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct after police arrested him for laying in the middle of roadway while he was allegedly intoxicated. Stoker was arraigned on Saturday, May 25.
