Local Sailors Rescued Off Ireland's Coast

Projo.com reports that a Newport resident on a boat that recently competed in this summer's 2011 Transatlantic Race was rescued from the Celtic Sea after the Rambler 100 capsized.

According to reports from the Providence Journal, several Newport residents were among the rescued crew of the the Rambler 100, which capsized off the coast of Ireland on Monday evening. 

Brad Read, executive director of Sail Newport, said that several crew members were from Newport, including Sail Newport board member Mick Harvey. 

The Rambler 100 was racing in the Rolex Fastnet Race when the keel broke on George David's 100-foot yacht.
