Man Charged With Driving Drunk to Detox

Connecticut man allegedly in parking lot crash he doesn't remember.

If you’re heading to a detox facility, it’s likely you’ll be needing a ride.

But one man from East Haddam decided on Tuesday that he’d rather drive, according to The Hartford Courant.

Kevin Visintainer, 48, told Officer Matthew Bloom he was on the way to checking into Middlesex Hospital for alcohol detox, when he got into an accident in the hospital parking lot and was charged with drunk driving, according to Middletown police.

Although Visintainer didn’t remember hitting another car, he was confronted by someone in the parking lot who said he did, the The Hartford Courant reports.

When he was tested at police headquarters, his blood alcohol level was up to 3 times the legal level for drunk driving in Connecticut, police said.

On Wednesday Visintainer was being held on $500 bond, not in his alcohol detox treatment.
