To kick-off National Fire Safety Month, which is held in October, the Middletown Fire Department will host an open house to teach fire safety and prevention practices.  The event will be held on Monday, Oct. 14 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m at the Middletown Fire Department, located at 239 Wyatt Road.

Participants will receive safety tips such as “stop, drop, and roll”, learn how to plan escape routes and how to properly extinguish a fire using a fire extinguisher simulator.

“This event allows us to reach out to the community and arm local families with fire safety tips and procedures,” said Fire Marshal Rob McCall. “Our open house allows families to get together and better prepares them to react if a fire does start.”
