Middletown Arrests: DUIs, Domestic Assault, Drug Possession
The following arrests were reported by the Middletown Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.
Middletown Police reported six arrests so far this week:
Joshua Bairos, 18, of New Bedford was arrested on Tuesday, July 11, around 11:44 p.m. on a driving under the influence charge after he was involved in an accident with another vehicle on West Main Road and Miantonomi Ave.
According to the Middletown Police, Bairos said he was coming from New Bedford and was on his way to Route 6 in Westport, Mass. He reportedly told Police he was lost and did not know where he was.
Police said there was a cloud of smoke in the car and it smelled of marijuana. When Police asked Bairos what time it was, he responded “around 5:00 or 5:30.” He was asked to count down from 37 to 23, and Bairos allegedly said, “wait 37 to 23, is that backwards or forwards, 23 to 37, I don’t know man.”
He failed the sobriety tests and was taken into custody.
Daniel Kent, 51, of 6 Columbia Rd. was arrested on Tuesday, July 10 around 1:57 a.m. on charges of driving under the influence of .15 or greater. Police pulled over his car on East Main Road after they said he crossed the double yellow center line more than five times. Kent allegedly said he had three beers at Applebees and then three more beers at Big Dawgs Bar.
He failed the field sobriety test and was brought into custody. He registered a blood alcohol level of .168 and .169.
Alexandra LePore Thompson, 41, of Fall River was arrested on Tuesday, July 10, around 9:15 p.m. on a felony subsequent offense possession of marijuana charge Thompson had been convicted of possession of marijuana in October of 2010 in Newport.
Thompson was pulled over on West Main Road for a suspended registration. Police said they found the marijuana during a search of the vehicle.
Christoper Simanski, 49, of 288 Vaucluse Ave. was arrested on Monday, July 9, on charges of domestic assault. Simanski allegedly dialed 911 after he said his wife accused him of pushing and hitting her after she confronted him about how much he had to drink.
Two Middletown residents were arrested on Tuesday, July 10 around 3:30 p.m. after police responded to 1212 West Main Road on a complaint of a domestic argument. Police said they were unable to determine what caused the argument.
Marques Franklin, 22, of 15 Rogers Ln. was was charged with obstructing an officer in execution of duty. Mercedez Ferguson, 19, of 1212 West Main Rd. was arrested on charges of domestic-disorderly conduct.
Donald Knotts, 31, of 762 Globe St., Fall River, was arrested on Tuesday, July 10 on a misdemeanor charge of weapons other than firearms after Police found an illegal knife during a search of a vehicle that was stopped in the Stop and Shop parking lot for suspicion of drug activity.
