Middletown Arrests: Man Arrested Six Years After He Allegedly Failed to Return Rental Car

The following arrests were reported by the Middletown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Man Allegedly Failed to Return Rental Car; Arrested Six Years Later

James Rainville, 36, of 125 Lexington St., was arrested on Wednesday morning around 1:15 a.m. on charges of obtaining a vehicle with intent to defraud and for an warrant of arrest on affidavit, which is a felony.

Rainville allegedly rented a car from Thrifty Rental Car in Middletown on April 4, 2006 for a one week period.  When the car was not returned, Thrifty filed a complaint and a warrant was issued for driving without consent of owner, said police.  Rainville turned himself in to the Middletown Police on July 20, 2006, said police.  

Upon review by the Attorney General’s Office, the original charge was dismissed and the case was remanded to District Court to be charged as obtaining vehicles with intent to defraud.  Rainville allegedly failed to appear to District Court on October 27, 2006, said police.

Early this morning, Rainville was arrested by Portsmouth Police Department, which notified the Middletown Police Department to take custody of Rainville, said police.

Woman Arrested After Victim Spills Boiling Water

Judy Walaski, 50, of 30A Ludlow Road, was arrested on Wednesday morning around 1:21 after police responded to her residence for a domestic disturbance.  She was charged with domestic assault, said police.

The victim, a 33 year-old Middletown woman, said she accidentally spilled boiling water over the kitchen table and onto the floor as she boiled potatoes.

The victim alleged that Walaski had just come home from Rusty’s Bar and appeared to be intoxicated.  The 33-year-old said Walaski called her stupid and incompetent.  The two reportedly began yelling at each other and Walaski allegedly grabbed the victim by her neck.  The victim alleged that Walaski struck her in the face several times.

Walaski was placed under arrest without incident, said police.

Felony Drug Possession Charge

Jessuem Nevarez, 30, of 9 Gould St., Newport was arrested on Tuesday around 11:45 p.m. on charges of driving with a suspended license and a felony possession of drugs charge.  Police pulled over Nevarez when he allegedly failed to stop at the Beacon Terrace and Rosedale Avenue stop sign.  He reportedly told police his license had been suspended.   A search of the car turned up Oxycodone pills, said police.
