Middletown Arrests: Woman Kicks Officer in Stomach, Man Charged with DUI After Accident

The following arrests were reported by the Middletown Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Shana Brady of Middletown was arrested on Monday evening around 11:00 p.m. after police were dispatched for a well being check.  According to Police, when Brady opened the door she said that she did not want to harm herself.

Police said Brady became enraged when they told her a rescue would transport her to Newport Hospital. She allegedly threw a cell phone which shattered. Police said she eventually agreed to go to the hospital if the police could arrange for a ride home when she was discharged.

Once in the rescue, Brady allegedly kicked an officer in his stomach. Police said once at the hospital, she had to be restrained to the bed. Although Police said she was cooperative and tearful during processing, she began banging her head against the processing room wall.   Police restrained her to the bench.

Walter Chambers, 65, of 28 Freeborn St., was arrested on on Tuesday afternoon around 1:40 p.m. on a driving under the influence .15 or greater charge.  Police were dispatched to the parking lot of Kentucky Fried Chicken for a report of an accident where they found Chambers seated in his car with both airbags deployed. They said the front end of his car had heavy damage.

Police smelled alcohol on Chambers said his eyes were severely bloodshot. Chambers reportedly told officers he had two or three beers at the VFW earlier that day.   After he failed the field sobriety tests, police brought him into custody.

He agreed to take the breathalyzer test which returned two counts of .177.

Theresa Tertinek, 52, of 48 Third St., was arrested on Tuesday morning around 10:03 a.m. on an active bench warrant.

Zita Saunders, 30, of 324 Broadway, Fall River, was arrested on charges of driving after denial and an active bench warrant after she was involved in an accident on the intersection of West Main Road and East Main Road.
