Middletown Fire Department Responds to Sparking Transformer on Lake Eerie Street

The Middletown Fire Department and National Grid were both on the scene around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

Around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, the responded to Lake Eerie Street off Coddington Highway for reports of a sparking transformer on a utility pole.

Firefighters arriving on Middletown Fire Department Engine #36 monitored the transformer pending the arrival of National Grid. There was no fire and there were no downed wires visible.

National Grid workers arrived around 2:45 p.m. to assess and repair the transformer if necessary.

No local power outages were reported at this time, according to the National Grid website.
