Middletown Make DUI and Bench Warrant Arrests

The following arrests were reported by the Middletown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

 

  • James Vanness, 36, of 439 Broadway Apt., Newport was arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 20 around 1:35 a.m. on charges of driving under the influence with a BAC of .10-.15.    Police said he smelled of alcohol and had cigarette ash on his jacket and pants.    Vanness stated he had Cerebral Palsy and had a difficult time putting weight on his legs, reported police.  Police said he failed the field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.  Vanness was also cited for his inspection sticker, contents of a registration plate and operating the vehicle without evidence of registration. 

  • Zohaib Nawaz, 20, of 275 West Main Rd. was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 19, around 7:45 p.m on an active bench warrant for failure to appear in court.

  • Juan Garcia, 24, of 248 Hillside Ave., Newport was arrested on Tuesday, Feb 19 around 10:30 p.m. on charges of an active bench warrant issued from family court.
