Middletown Man Faces Multiple Domestic Charges
Alfonso A. Toppa, 40, of 2 Wilson Road, Middletown, was arrested on Saturday, May 11 at 12:14 a.m. and charged with domestic simple assault, domestic vandalism and domestic refusal to relinquish a telephone. Toppa allegedly grabbed his girlfriend by the throat and pushed her down onto their bed during an argument, according to reports by the Middletown Police Department. Toppa will be arraigned in district court on May 17.

Newport Woman Arrested on Warrant
Denise Marie Christensen, 56, of 48 Third St., Newport was arrested on Monday, May 13 at 12:05 a.m. on a bench warrant issued from Second Division District Court for failure to appear. She was taken into custody following an altercation at the apartments above Rusty's Bar on Wave Avenue, although she was not involved in the fight. She was held overnight at Middletown Police Headquarters and arraigned in district court the next morning.

Middletown Woman Charged with Disorderly Conduct
Ellen Arrigo, 53, of 31 West Main Road, Middletown, was arrested on Saturday, May 11 at 9:58 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct following an disturbance at the Rodeway Inn on West Main Road.
Middletown Man Charged with Drunken-Driving
Stephen Benevides, 54, of 50 Livingston Place, Middletown, was arrested on Friday, May 10 at 10:36 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence, first offense, blood-alcohol content unknown, and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Benevides allegedly admitted to drinking 3-4 beers and failed a field sobriety test. At the station he refused a breathalyzer test and was held overnight on suspicion of DUI and arraigned in district court the following day.
