Middletown Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident
Lyle J. Smith, 49, of Middletown was killed Wednesday in a motorcycle accident.
Middletown police confirmed a 49-year-old Middletown man died from injuries after he was involved in a motorcycle accident Wednesday, Sept. 11 around 6:30 p.m.
Police said Lyle J. Smith, 49, of 19 Laura Road, went off the road around 26 Valley Road into a heavily wooded area. Police said when he was found, Smith was not conscious but breathing. He was transported to Newport Hospital and then Rhode Island Hospital, where he died.

The accident is under investigation by the Middletown Detective Division and the Accident Reconstruction Team. Police were unable to find any other vehicles involved in the accident.
