Middletown Police Charge Two Exeter Women with Marijuana Possession

The Middletown Police Department reported the following arrests on Wednesday, Feb. 16.

 The on Wednesday arrested Courtney A. Sylvester, 24, of 155 Yawgoo Valley Road, Apt. #55A, Exeter, and Alixandra K. Bouchard, 19, of 11 Coddington Wharf, Exeter, on Wednesday around 9:40 p.m., charging each with first- offense misdemeanor marijuana possession. According to the arrest report, police stopped the car Sylvester was driving on West Main Road near Two-Mile Corner for a failed headlight.  

Police at the scene allege they detected the smell of marijuana during questioning and that Sylvester, the driver, turned over a half-smoked joint from her sweatshirt pocket. During a search of the vehicle, police also allegedly recovered another half-smoked joint and wooden bowl. Bouchard, the passenger, also surrendered a clear plastic bag with marijuana from her coat pocket, according to their arrest records.

After processing, both women were released and ordered to appear at the Second District Court in Newport on March 4, 2011.

Middletown Man Charged with Drunk Driving

  • Bryan James Diggle, 29, of 336 Paradise Ave., Middletown, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. According to the arrest record, around 2 a.m. Thursday morning police found his 2002 Dodge pickup truck stopped in the middle of Miantonomi Avenue near Green End Avenue. Police at the scene reported that it appeared the truck had lost control while coming down the hill and crashed into a raised sewer cap and brush in the westbound lane. Upon further questioning and conducting a field sobriety test, police charged Diggle for allegedly driving drunk as a felony due to a previous offense on record within the last five years. Police also cited him for allegedly refusing to take a chemical test to measure his blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) level and for failing to control his truck.

Connecticut Man Charged with Marijuana Possession

  • On Wednesday around 10 a.m., police arrested Craig F. Aubin, 30, of 1154 Quaddick Town Farm Road, Thompson, CT, on a misdemeanor first-offense charge of marijuana possession. According to the arrest report, Middletown police responded to a call issued by law enforcement at the Newport Naval base Gate #17 who alleged they had conducted a routine vehicle search and found marijuana in a clear bottle and a prescription bottle. Police also confiscated suspected marijuana paraphernalia that included a grinder and smoking pipe. Aubin was later arraigned at the Second District Court in Newport.

Check Fraud Arrest

  • Kristine N. Davis, 24, 129 Veazie St., Apt. #B, Providence, was arrested Wednesday around 2:30 p.m. at the Middletoen police station on an outstanding felony arrest warrant for allegedly writing fraudulent checks under $1,000. According to the police report, Davis turned herself in. She was later arraigned at the Second District Court in Newport.
