Middletown Police Log: 12 Recent Arrests Reported

The following information is based on arrest reports from the Middletown Police Department and they do not indicate convictions.

Drunk Driving Charges

  • William R. Noelte, 50, of 124 Newport Ave., Middletown, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. on June 16 on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, a first offense. According to the arrest report, police stopped his car after receiving a report from another motorist that he was driving erratically and police observed the car cross the center line on several occasions. He was charged after a field sobriety test was conducted at the scene. He was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test to measure BAC.
  • Nathaniel Jean-Luc Putier, 21, of 17 Reardon Drive, Middletown, was arrested around 2:16 a.m. Tuesday on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, a first offense. According to the arrest report, police charged him after responding to a minor motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Green End Avenue and Third Beach Road. He was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test to measure blood-alcohol concentration (BAC), a taillight infraction and failure to maintain control of his vehicle.
  • During the same accident investigation, Colby R. Maurice, 19, of 756 Wapping Road, Portsmouth, also was cited for underage alcohol possession. According to the arrest report, Maurice was a passenger in the vehicle and that he agreed to take a breath test to measure his BAC, at which time he allegedly registered a .152 BAC. He was ordered to appear at Municipal Court on June 28 to answer the charge.

Underage Drinking

  • Christopher McMahon, 20, of 10 Chiswick Road, Greenville, RI, was cited on a misdemeanor charge of underage alcohol possession around 10:41 p.m. Monday night. According to the arrest report, police stopped his car for a taillight infraction. Police searched his car and recovered a bottle of Captain Morgan rum. He was ordered to appear at Municipal Court on June 28.

Oustanding Arrest Warrants

  • Darnell L. Jenkins, 37, of 36 W. Evans St., Newport, was arrested around 4:48 p.m. Monday as a fugitive of justice, with a misdemeanor arrest warrant issued out of Fall River, Mass. For kidnapping charges. According to the arrest warrant, police arrested Jenkins at his place of work in Middletown.
  • Samantha Doyle, 18, of 40 Echo Lane, Portsmouth, was arrested around 11:46 a.m. Monday morning on a misdemeanor arrest warrant issued from the Second District Court after a police officer allegedly observed trash being thrown from the car window on West Main Road. A background check revealed the outstanding arrest warrant in relation to undisclosed investigation stemming from another police department.

Assault

  • Peter O’Hanley 37, of 14 Gilroy St., Newport, was arrested around 11:25 a.m. on Friday, June 17, on a misdemeanor charge of domestic assault. According to the arrest report, police responded to a fight in progress at 24 Concord Drive, where a 31-year-old male relative alleged that O’Hanley had punched him due to a dispute involving storage boxes of personal belongings.
  • Kurt Gerdin, 32, of 15 Brooks Ave., Newport, was arrested around 9:31 p.m. June 16 on a misdemeanor charge of simple assault. According to the arrest record, Newport police picked up Gerdin on an outstanding arrest warrant issued by Middletown police in connection with an assault allegation that had been filed by an employee at KJ’s Pub, who claimed that Gerdin yelled at him for speaking badly about his family and punched the employee before leaving in a cab.

Larceny

  • Jerry Lee Page, 50, of 627 Cranston St., Providence, was arrested shortly after midnight on Friday June 17, on a misdemeanor charge of larceny under $500. According to the arrest report, police arrested Page after investigating a complaint received on June 16 involving Brewski’s bar on Maple Avenue.

Marijuana Charges

  • Zigmond A. Coffey, 18, of 24 McAllister St., Newport, was arrested around 5:47 p.m. on June 17 on a misdemeanor charge of first offense marijuana possession. According to the arrest report, police stopped the car he was driving on Turner Road for speeding  when police at the scene allegedly observed a burnt marijuana cigarette in the car and Coffey allegedly turned over a sunglasses case containing marijuana.
  • Jonathan W. Wanamaker, 28, of 16 Reardon Drive, Middletown, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. on June 16 on misdemeanor charges of domestic disorderly conduct, marijuana possession and possession of Class C fireworks. According to the arrest report, police responded to a residence on Rogers Lane after a girlfriend reported he was attempting to break into her residence. The suspect told police she would not let him in to retrieve some of his belongings so he attempted to go through the window. A blue backpack that Wanamaker recovered from her residence was found to allegedly have a bag of marijuana, pipe and two firework candles inside, police reported.

Disorderly Conduct

  • Schyller Ritter, 24, of 32 ½ St. Elizabeth St., Bristol, was arrested around 3:07 p.m. on June 17 on a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge. According to the arrest report, Ritter initiated a fight and wrestled with a 21-year-old Newport man in the parking lot of the Northgate apartment complex after the two had a verbal argument earlier in the day. A black cellphone recovered from the scene was traced to Ritter and when he reported to the Middletown Police Station to pick it up, he was charged, according to the police report.
