Middletown Police Log: 3 Marijuana and 3 DUI Arrests

The following information is based on Middletown Police Department arrest reports and does not indicate any convictions.

James Stillman Rose, 21, of 969 West Main Road, Middletown, was arrested by at approximately 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, on a charge of possession of marijuana and Class C fireworks. According to the report, officers observed Rose’s vehicle parked in the Third Beach parking lot, and approached to investigate. The vehicle allegedly sped out of the lot, and officers stopped the car on the access road to the lot. According to the report, the officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car, and upon searching the car they allegedly found marijuana in a pipe, and fireworks in the rear seat.

Backwards Passenger Leads to Driver’s Bench Warrant Arrest

Harmony D. Cabral, 31, of 936 West Main Road, Middletown, was arrested at 10 a.m., Wednesday, for a bench warrant. According to the police report, officers stopped the car she was driving because a front-seat passenger was observed facing the back of the vehicle and wearing no seat belt. When checking Cabral’s license, officers discovered the active warrant.

Speeding Ends with DUI Arrest

Roberto Figueras Nazario, 34, of 88 William Street, Middletown, was arrested at approximately 2 a.m., Wednesday, on a charge of driving under the influence. According to the report, officers observed his car traveling at 44 m.p.h. in a 25 m.p.h. zone of West Main Road, and when they stopped the vehicle they noticed a strong odor of alcohol. Figueras Nazario allegedly failed a field sobriety test, and at the police station, he refused a chemical test.

Marijuana Found after Speeding Stop

Christopher Roach, 21, of 378 Westwood, Mass., was arrested at 1 a.m., Wednesday, on a charge of possession of marijuana, after the car was stopped for speeding and officers allegedly smelled the odor of marijuana and subsequently found marijuana in the vehicle.

Christmas Tree Thrown Out During Disturbance

Salvatore Carfora, 24, of 8 Sundown Lane, Middletown, was arrested at approximately 1 a.m. Tuesday, on a charge of domestic disorderly conduct. According to the report, officers responded to a call of a domestic disturbance, and found the living room and kitchen in disarray, including a broken lamp and broken Christmas tree ornaments, but no tree. Carfora allegedly told officers that he was upset about a family issue and had thrown the Christmas tree out the back door.

Marijuana Arrest after Missing Headlight Stop

Dustin D. Durfee, 20, of 48 River Street, Bristol, was arrested at approximately 5 p.m., Monday, on a charge of driving under the influence, possession of marijuana, and driving without a license. A 17-year-old Middletown female was also arrested on possession of marijuana in the same incident. According to the report, police stopped Durfee’s vehicle near West Main Road and Beacon Street, upon noticing a missing headlight. Durfee allegedly put the vehicle in reverse and backed into the police car. According to the report, the officers noticed a strong smell of marijuana and noticed that Durfee’s eyes were bloodshot and glossy. Durfee allegedly swayed and nearly fell during a field sobriety test and was taken to the police station.

Reckless Driving Leads to DUI Arrest

Christine Mattera, 51, of 63 Bliss Road, South Kingstown, was arrested at approximately 6 p.m. Monday, on a charge of driving under the influence. According to the report, police stopped Mattera’s car on East Main Road, near the intersection of Valley Road, for reckless driving after allegedly observing the car swerving between lanes. Officers allegedly noticed a smell of alcohol, and conducted a field sobriety test, which Mattera allegedly failed. She refused a chemical test at the police station.
