Middletown Police Log: Acushnet Man Charged After Found With Stolen Purse
The Middletown Police Department reported the following arrest from July 28, 2011. It does not indicate a conviction.
Kevin Valentim, 19, of 62 Quaker Lane, Acushnet, MA, was arrested around 5:05 a.m. early Thursday morning on a misdemeanor charge of receiving stolen goods.
According to the arrest report, police stopped the car Valentim was driving on West Main Road near the Hess Gas Station in response to a report from Newport police involving an unrelated investigation based on a complaint by a cab driver.
As Middletown police questioned Valentim and two other passengers, and conducted a search of the car, police allegedly found a purse belonging to a Jamestown resident.

Upon calling the owner, the woman told police that she had left the purse in her car overnight and that it had been stolen.
