Middletown Police Log: DUI Arrestee Allegedly Vandalizes Cell

Ryan James Yergeau, 20, of 23 Rosedale Terrace, Middletown, was arrested at approximately 1 a.m., Friday, Jan. 13, for allegedly driving under the influence. He was charged with vandalism at 3 a.m.
According to the police report, an officer stopped Yergeau for speeding on West Main Road near Forest Avenue and reportedly noticed a strong smell of alcohol when speaking to him.
During a field sobriety test, Yergeau allegedly was unable to follow instructions or perform the tasks. He was taken to the for processing, and a chemical test reportedly registered a blood alcohol level of .166. Yergeau allegedly damaged the walls of the cell in which he was placed by scratching paint off the walls using his fingernails.
