Middletown Police Log: DUI, Marijuana Charges Result After Car Stops

DUI, Marijuana Charges

Thomas E. Folcarelli, 54, of 121 Gibbs St., Newport, was arrested around 1:55 a.m. Wednesday on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of marijuana, both misdemeanor first offenses.

According to the arrest report, a Middletown police officer stopped his car in the 500 block of Valley Road. He was charged with both DUI and marijuana possession following a field sobriety test and after a patdown conducted at the scene allegedly turned up a small plastic bag with pot. He was also cited for refusing to later submit to a chemical test to measure his blood-alcohol concentration.

Marijuana Possession

Brandon Alexander Bruneau, 18, of 7A Chestnut Hill Road, Middletown, was arrested around 2:43 a.m. Wednesday on a misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession, his first offense. According to the arrest report, a patrol officer stopped his car on Route 114 South near Access Highway after observing a missing license plate.

Due to suspicious movements the driver made during the traffic stop, police at the scene searched the car and found a plastic baggie with what appeared to be marijuana remnants. Upon questioning, Bruneau led police to find a small bag with marijuana hidden beneath a cup holder, according to the arrest report.
