Middletown Police Log: Holiday Weekend Brings 18 Arrests and Citations

The following information is based on Middletown Police Department reports and do not indicate convictions.

Disorderly Conduct

The arrested two local men around 8 p.m. Monday night, each on a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge. According to the arrest report, Thomas O’Hanley, 31, of 182 Rogers Lane, Middletown and Duane R. Cook, 33, of 166 Rogers Lane, Middletown, fought after O’Hanley called the other a derogatory name. The incident arose when O’Hanley was watching his children play outside and a woman yelled at him for not keeping them off the road. When he yelled back at the woman, Crook began yelling at O’Hanley before their argument escalated into a physical fight, police reported.

Deanna M. Mulcahy, 45, of 106 Town Farm Road, Apt. A, Westminster, Mass., was arrested around 3:08 a.m. Tuesday morning on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol. According to the arrest report, Mulcahy pulled over behind a parked Middletown Police Department patrol car within the 500 block of West Main Road to report that her boyfriend had allegedly smashed out the inside of her window while they were in Newport earlier in the evening before he then walked off. Police were unable to locate to boyfriend in the area but arrested Mulcahy after conducting a field sobriety test at the scene. Mulcahy was also cited for refusing to take a chemical test to measure her blood-alcohol concentration.

Red Cups Lead to 10 Public Drinking Citations

Around 9:20 p.m. Saturday night, Middletown police cited Katelan St. Laurent, 31, of 39 Cole St., Swansea, Mass. for drinking on a public street or in a parking lot. According to the incident report, a patrol officer observed St. Laurent drinking beer from a red cup outside County Liquors on Aquidneck Avenue. She was fined $100 and ordered to appear at Middletown’s Municipal Court on July 26 to answer the charge.

Middletown police cited five out-of-towners with drinking on a public beach around 2:30 p.m. Monday on Atlantic Beach. According to the police reports, the following men from Taunton, Mass. were allegedly found drinking from red plastic cups on the beach. Each were fined $100 and ordered to appear at Middletown Municipal Court on July 26 to answer the charges.

  • Ricardo F. Baganha, 28, of 10 Kilmer Ave., Apt. 1, Taunton, Mass.
  • Andrew S. Braganca, 25, of 258 Bay St., Taunton, Mass.
  • Anthony J. Ferrarese, 25, of 4 North Avenue, Taunton, Mass.
  • Marta S. Cidade, 25, of 35 Third St., Taunton, Mass.
  • Andre F. Baganha,  25, of 10 Kilmer Ave., Apt. 1, Taunton, Mass.

Around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Middletown police cited four out-of-towners for drinking on a public street. According to the police reports, the individuals were allegedly walking on Purgatory Road toward Aquidneck Avenue with alcoholic drinks in red cups with straws when a patrol officer observed them. Each of the following were cited and fined $100 and ordered to appear at Middletown’s Municipal Court on July 26 to answer the charges:

  • Amy Kubeck, 29, of 37 S. Quaker Lane, West Hartford, CT.
  • Lauren C. Croce, 23, of 7 Meadowlark, Terrace Apartment, Wyoming, RI.
  • Juliana Carrillo, 25, of 24 Park Place, Apt. 4C, Hartford, CT.
  • Leera L. Kpea, 25, of 87 Carpenter Dr. S. Kingstown, RI.

Vandalism

A Middletown parent on Rogers Lane filed a misdemeanor vandalism charge against a teenage daughter late Monday night after the 15-year-old allegedly punched a hole in a bedroom door. According to the arrest report, the teen became angry after the parent disconnected the home internet modem after the daughter failed to do chores around the house.

Outstanding Arrest Warrants

Valdenir Dasilva Sobrinho, 37, of Boutwell St., Fall River, Mass. was arrested around 9:30 a.m. Monday morning on an outstanding arrest warrant issued from the Second District Court in Newport. According to the arrest report, a Middletown patrol officer recognized Sobrinho while he was observed driving on Purgatory Road as having an outstanding arrest warrant. He was also cited for driving with an expired license.
Shea Poe, 23, of 386 Canonicus St., Tiverton, was arrested around 9:47 p.m. Saturday night on an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Third District Court. According to the arrest report, a routine background check of Poe’s vehicle registration turned up the arrest warrant for her alleged failure to appear for a court date.

Underage Drinking

Middletown police cited two out-of-towners for underage drinking Saturday night. According to the incident reports, Daniel Morrell, 19, of 10 Alvin Drive, Norwalk, CT, and Guy Linder, 20, of 318 Ferraris St., Copague, NY, both men were seated around a table strewn with multiple Coors Light cans when police responded to a noise complaint at 4 Stone Towers. Each were cited and ordered to appear at Middltown’s Municipal Court to answer the charges.
