Middletown Police Log: Shoplifting and Domestic Vandalism Arrests Reported

Domestic Vandalism

Michael David Rodrigues, 21, of 755 Wapping Road, Apt. RD, Portsmouth, was arrested around 4 a.m. Friday morning on a misdemeanor charge of domestic vandalism.

According to the arrest report, police responded to a disturbance on the 200 Block of Rogers Lane, where a woman alleged that Rodrigues had kicked her car and dented it during an argument. Portsmouth Police located Rodrigues at a relative’s home in Portsmouth, where he was arrested without incident.

Shoplifting

Matthew M. Withers, 48, of 15 Meeting St., Newport, was arrested around 11:50 a.m. Thursday on a misdemeanor charge of shoplifting. According to the arrest report, police responded to the 7-Eleven convenience store on Aquidneck Avenue for a report of stolen orange Gatorade drink.

The clerk told police that a man starting drinking it without paying for it but then gave it back when confronted. Police found the suspect at the intersection of Corey’s Lane and Green End Avenue. The suspect told police he took the orange Gatorade because he was thirsty.
