Middletown Police Log: Week Ending 8/7/2010

The Middletown Police Department reported following arrests and incidents, including arrests related to area break-ins.

The Middletown Police Department reported the following recent incidents and arrests for the week ending Aug. 7, 2010:

  • Around 10 am Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010, police arrested Stephen Galindez, 36, of Middletown, on a felony charge that would close an alleged breaking and entering case that dates back to April 11, 2010, when the Briarwood Lounge at 93 Aquidneck Avenue had reported money stolen from a cash drawer. Police allege that a pair of black Nike high top sneakers owned by Galindez matched a shoe impression left at the scene, where money had been reported as stolen from a cash register, according to police reports. Galindez was charged on one felony count and was scheduled to appear before the 2nd Division District Court Thursday to be charged.
  • Police arrested Justin St. Pierre, 28, of Barrington, Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010 around 7 pm on a felony charge of allegedly breaking and entering a home without consent at 79 Miantonomi Ave.
  • A 17-year-old Middletown resident was arrested Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010 around 7:50 pm on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct after he allegedly exposed his genitals to a store customer at the Stop & Shop at 1360 West Main Road, according to police reports.
  • Jeffrey M. Sullivan, 44, of Middletown, was arrested Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010 around 2 pm on a misdemeanor charge of allegedly driving under the influence of narcotics, following a minor traffic accident on West Main Road involving a blue 2003 Audi A4, driven by Laurent Partouch, and Sullivan's 2005 Ford F250 pickup truck. Sullivan allegedly told police that he had taken a muscle relaxer and Klonopin earlier that day on an empty stomach, according to police reports.
  • Lance Allen, 35, of Middletown, was taken into custody around 11 pm Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010 for a misdemeanor charge of domestic disorderly conduct after police responded to a disturbance at 10 Lattu Court. According to police reports, the 35-year old victim, a Middletown resident, called police after Allen allegedly punched holes in the wall and bedroom door and threw the victim's cell phone following arguments over finances.
  • Thomas Q. Murphy, 18, of Newport, was reportedly cited Tuesday night around 11:40 pm for underage drinking charge after police on routine patrol questioned him at Big Rock on Sachuest Point Road and allegedly found him and other individuals of legal drinking age in possession of beer. Murphy was ordered to appear before Municipal Court on Aug. 17, 2010.
  • David Eric DelNero, 26, of Middletown, was arrested Tuesday around 4:42 pm on a felony charge of breaking and entering in connection with a case earlier in the week that involved a vacation rental at 30 Warren Avenue. This was the second arrest made in the break-in case. Police had arrested Kristopher Almeida, 31, also of Middletown, within hours following the incident Monday around 3 am, after allegedly linking a cell phone and bag of Tostitos tortilla chips found at the scene to Almeida. Police reported on Wednesday that DelNero was arrested after investigators' questioning of Almeida had allegedly implicated DelNero as an accomplice to the break-in and surveillance tapes at the Cumberland Farms where the Tostitos were purchased showed footage of DelNero walking with Almeida in the direction of the break-in site. DelNero was held overnight and arraigned at Second Division District Court Wednesday morning.
  • Around 1:14 am Tuesday outside 49 Unity Drive, police arrested James R. Colannino, 33, of Middletown, on a misdemeanor charge of simple assault or battery for allegedly twisting the arm of  a female juvenile during a disturbance that reportedly arose from an argument involving a taxi cab. The youth was treated and released at Newport Hospital for a sprained wrist, according to police reports, and Colannino was held Tuesday morning awaiting a court appearance.
  • A routine patrol of Second Beach around 1:13 am Sunday resulted in a misdemeanor charge of alleged underage drinking against Ashley C. Stokes, 19, of Middletown. She was ordered to appear before Municipal Court on Aug. 17, 2010.
  • Sunday night around 11:30 pm, Middletown police charged Newport residents Joseph M. Divirgilio Jr., 27, and James J. Flamand each with disorderly conduct after investigating a false fire alarm at the Newport Hotel and Suites at 30 Wave Ave. and discovering that fire extinguishers had been sprayed on the hotel third floor that gave the appearance of smoke.
  • Christopher J. Busche, 20, of Middletown, was fined $100 for a misdemeanor charge for allegedly possessing and drinking beer on Second Beach around 1:30 am Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010.
  • Monica A. Morales, 22, of North East, PA, was charged with alleged misdemeanor domestic assault and battery after police responded to a reported disturbance at 152 Tuckerman Ave., around 1:51 am Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010.  A knife was reportedly recovered from the scene and seized as evidence.
