Middletown Police Log: DUI, Fraudulent Credit Card Use Arrest

The following information is based on Middletown Police Department arrest reports and does not indicate any convictions.

Portsmouth Woman Charged with Driving Under the Influence

19-year old Diana Saykina of 322 Bristol Ferry Road in Portsmouth was arrested at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, on a DUI charge and a citation for refusal to submit to a chemical test.

According to the Middletown police report, she swerved across both driver and passenger dividing lines while traveling on East Main Road.  The officer reported that she continued driving, after he activated emergency lights, and that she continued even after he put on the sirens. Once at the Portsmouth line, Saykina turned into Sarge’s Auto Body and stopped the car, police said.

Saykina told officers she was coming from Taco Bell and headed home to Portsmouth.  The arresting police officer reported she adamantly denied drinking alcohol or using narcotics at first. The officer reported that he saw a brown paper bag in the back seat, similar to a liquor store bag. When he asked her again if she had been drinking, she said she had a couple of beers a few hours ago. The officer informed her that the breath alcohol content limit for her age was .02-percent.

After conducting various field sobriety tests, police put Saykina under arrest.

Middletown Woman Charged with Fraudulent Use of Credit Cards

Kristen Maghuyop of 240 Aquidneck Ave, Middletown, was charged with fraudulent use of credit cards at 12:17 p.m Wednesday, Feb. 15.  On Sunday Feb. 12, a man reportedly went into the Middletown Police Station with the complaint that his son, who had his Discover Card, had left it at the Knight’s Inn while staying with Maghuyop several weeks ago.

His son allegedly had attempted to get his wallet back, but his phone was turned off until Feb. 9. Once it was reactivated, he received a text message from Maghuyop that the wallet was left in a brown paper bag in front of his residence. The police report stated there were $494.68 in alleged fraudulent charges on the Discover Card's statement within Middletown, and several others outside the jurisdiction.

On Wednesday an officer indentified Maghuyop driving a Tahoe on Beacon Street, pulled her over and arrested her under the active warrant for fraudulent use of credit cards.
