MPD Arrest 2 On Separate DUI Charges

The following arrests were reported by the Middletown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.


Shannon Pearson, 50, of 22 12 Cherry St., Newport, was arrested on Saturday at 11:17 p.m. on charges of driving under the influence. Police said she was driving erratically on Aquidneck Avenue with her headlights off.  She failed the field sobriety tests and was brought into custody. Police said there was a cup of alcohol in her car.  She was also cited with refusal to take a chemical test, a driving violation and for presence of alcoholic beverage in the vehicle.

Samuel Cooper, 22, of 95 Boyce Ave., Pawtucket, was arrested Sunday around 1:15 a.m. on charges of driving under the influence with a BAC of .08-.10.  Police said he was speeding and driving erratically on West Main Road.  He allegedly told police he had seven drinks and smoked marijuana.  At the station, he reportedly blew a BAC of .091 and .095.  He was also cited with four driving violations, including speeding.
